COMPETITION IN CHURCH

Having considered it for myself, I am of the opinion that competition of whatever kind, be it dancing, singing, Bible quiz, drama or whatever form of contest, that seeks to make one a winner and the other a looser, should not be encouraged in the Church. As Christians, it is my submission that we should look at ourselves as equals irrespective of our positions, complementing ourselves for the advancement of the Body of Christ.

The psychological implications of competitions are dangerous and cannot be overemphasized. The thought of being a failure is in itself demoralizing, and cannot in any way help in the spiritual growth of the person in question.
